Sonoran Desert Preserve Drive is approached from the east off of Cave Creek Road; and from the west at the I-17 Dove Valley Drive exit. Dove Valley Drive going east becomes Sonoran Desert Preserve Drive. Parking and chemical restrooms are available at the trailhead. There is NO water.

From the trailhead, hike the Apache Wash Loop for 5.97 miles joining the Ocotillo trail for .35 miles back to the trailhead. This 6.32 mile hike is rated as easy.
